A baby’s first year goes by so fast, they change, grow, and learn so much in such a short time! A first birthday cake smash session is a great way to celebrate your baby’s first year. These portraits are unique, memorable, and make incredible decor and gifts for your home and family.

 

Your baby’s first birthday is absolutely a time to celebrate and I want your child to enjoy this experience as much as I enjoy capturing it. It’s my pleasure to work with you and your family to craft a special portrait experience just for your baby.

Michelle Sailer Photography is a professional cake smash photographer located in The Woodlands, Texas and serves the Houston, Texas area. When you book your baby’s cake smash session with Michelle, every little detail will be taken care of for you. Michelle will walk you through the entire process. It is recommended that you book your cake smash session a minimum of 8-10 weeks in advance to guarantee Michelle’s availability.

Simplicity: Cake Smash Mini Session

  • $425
  • 30 min session
  • Wardrobe available for use. Only one outfit allowed.
  • 8 digital images
  • Your session comes with a bunting or banner in the color scheme of your choice, a custom cake may be added on for $25. This is a simple session only! All white set, banner, small balloon garland and florals. Certain themes may be used in this session. Please inquire for a list of approved themes

Designer: Cake Smash Session

  • $650
  • up to 45 min session
  • before pictures in the cake smash set
  • wardrobe available for use, up to two outfit changes
  • 20 digital images
  • Your session comes with a more elaborate setup than the mini. This is a themed based session and Michelle Sailer Photography will provide the entire set up.

Custom: Cake Smash Session

  • $950
  • up to one hour session
  • Before pictures in a separate setting, as well as before pictures in the cake smash set.
  • 30 digital images
  • Elaborate set up, completely custom to you.
  • wardrobe available and will be to your theme. Up to three outfit changes.
  • a fruit, flower, or bubble bath after the cake smash. This is every baby’s favorite part!!!
  • Custom 20×20 collage to the theme of your session (digital download)

*A splash session may be added to the mini or design package for an additional $100, with an additional 4 images to any package. Parent (no family allowed for studio)  shots may also be added on for an additional $100 and 4 additional images with be included. If outdoors, family may be added on for $100 and will include 4 additional images. Immediate family ONLY.

I do NOT provide the cake for liability reasons. I do set you up with a baker that creates cakes custom to your set. She delivers to my studio the morning of your session.

Frequently asked questions – Cake Smash Photography Sessions!

  • When should I schedule a cake smash session?
    •  If you are thinking of booking a session, it is best to book at least 6 months before their birthday to guarantee a spot on my calendar!
  • What should my child wear?
    • Michelle Sailer Photography has a large selection of wardrobe available for use in your session. The Smash and Splash comes with a custom outfit to match your theme.
  • May I incorporate special props (favorite blankets, toys, meaningful items)?
    • You are more than welcome to bring any props you’d like! Just let us know ahead of time so we can plan the artistic shoot.
  • What if my child doesn’t eat the cake?
    • Unfortunately, this does happen about 80% of the time.  Some children love the cake smash and dig right in.  Others are hesitant. 
  • Who may attend the cake smash session? 
    • Family members are very welcome to attend the session and the studio will comfortably hold a number of people. Please keep in mind, too many people trying to get your child to smile or talking tends to be a distraction.
  • May I be in the pictures with my child?
    • Family and sibling pictures may be added on for $100. However, Cake smash sessions focus on the baby.
  • What happens if I need to cancel or postpone?
    • People get sick and circumstances change meaning that occasionally cancellations or postponements are unavoidable.
