During your newborn shoot, in my Houston photography studio, I typically mention a cake smash session. I know this may seem early to discuss it, but a year flies by and, really, you can start planning your cake smash session that early!! I have found majority of the time parents don’t even know what a cake smash is. What?!? These are by far my favorite sessions! I am here to explain what a cake smash session is!
So what is exactly is this “cake smash session”? Well, its a super fun session where the baby typically has his or her first celebratory cake and we document it through beautiful photographs, but its not JUST that. Here are some things you can expect with a cake smash session in Michelle Sailer Photography’s Houston are studio.
- We will get some before pictures in your cake smash set! If this is a design or custom session, we will also get photos in a different set and different outfit
- Then comes the cake! We will put cake in front of baby and let him or her have at it! Don’t be disappointed if baby isn’t receptive to the cake. We will play patty cake on it, we will encourage smashing by pushing hand into it, we will play songs and have fun!
- The session isn’t just about the cake. This is a milestone celebrating your baby’s first year of life. Some are just not interested in the actual cake, BUT we always have fun!
- After the cake part is over, if added on, we will do a splash session. A splash session is a bath after the smash in an adorable tub! Baby’s absolutely adore this part and I highly recommend adding this on!
